Day 1: Welcome!!

I've set up this blog as a vehicle for airing our emotions regarding Dick Nethercut's disappearance. At the meeting last Friday night, following the prayer vigil, many people expressed dismay about feeling isolated at their computers and alone with their thoughts. I am hoping that this blog helps to alleviate some of that distress and at the same time raise some awareness about Dick's disappearance, since the story didn't get much media coverage.

I do want to suggest, however, that we not name names when talking about the investigation.

To contribute to the blog, you need to set up a user name and password (you can do so anoonymously). Every day I will start a new page and you can add comments. We will continue this blog as long as it is needed (until there is no more activity).

  1. Thanks so much Lori for setting this up. It had crossed my mind a few days ago to set up a forum of some sort after the prayer service for all of us to convene and share. I will add something soon...just wanted to kick off the blog and welcome everyone.

  2. Hey Lori!

This has been horrible news from the beginning. Regardless of the reported stamina of "Decent" Dick Nethercut, he remains an 83 year old man. Smaller news items can lead over something like this? His car was seen a week ago Monday (the 21st) right where it was found last Saturday. I'm confused.

You, Dick, Joaquin and I led a kicking workshop in Shirley medium. That's where Dick is with me. He went to 3 lifer parole hearings for me and during the first was questioned/pressured by Mary Ellen Doyal to publically disclose (for the first time) the horrors of his daughters demise.

Ready Rick, Deacon Dick, Dapper Dick, Daring Dick, Daffy Dick, Really Rich, Resonably Rich or Decent Dick ~ He's the best!

  3. Thank you Lori for setting this up. It is so painful not knowing what has happened to DIck, and imagining the worst. I know Dick as Radiant Rich, and was privileged to have led workshops and gone to meetings with him.

  4. Lori, thank you for this blog. I am feeling very down today. I keep hoping for some news of Dick but with each day that passes, I become sadder. He was so looking forward to receiving that award at MCI Shirley last night. It was so well deserved. He and Joan Russell facilitated the first AVP workshop I participated in. He was Radiant Rich then and more recently changed his name to Relaxed Rich, although I don't think he ever really relaxed. Radiant seems like the best name for him because he radiated love to everyone. Lets keep praying for our dear friend.

  5. My fortune cookie tonight said I would feel "at peace having talked with an old friend." The only thing old about Dick is his age and I have had several day dreams today seeing his radiant smile and the immense joy that would cross his face after hearing a good joke or anything that tickled his funny bone. I am more privileged I think than others that know Dick because he thought of, and has treated me, as a grandson over the years and I will always cherish and be grateful for that title. One of my all-time favorite movies is The Shawshank Redemption. At the end of the movie Morgan Freeman (Red) is narrating about Tim Robbin's (Andy Dufresne) escape: "I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. Still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone. I guess I just miss my friend." Wherever Dick is I miss him and if he has escaped this world than the place we live in is indeed much more drab and empty without him.
